Inside my head 1

I'm supposed to 'blog' now? What? How? Where do I even start? I am trying to get my students excited about writing.....really? me? I'm not sure if I know how to do this.

I googled - how to help students find their "voice". A helpful webpage suggested I get students to create a blog post once a week, to write about "anything" that they feel like talking about or that interests them. 

"Hmmm...'Free write topic: Write about whatever interest you.'                                                                    Where have I seen this idea before? Yea, just about in every classroom." 

"Has it improved the writing of struggling writers? If I'm really honest, the answer is 'no'."

"I mean, how is writing about 'anything' supposed to inspire my struggling writers? They don't like writing, and getting them to write about 'anything' still doesn't 'cure' their essential struggle that they don't like writing."
